Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antigen. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with antibody specific for cortisol and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated goat-anti-rabbit antibody. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with pre-coated cortisol and cortisol in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of cortisol in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cortisol, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
