Principle of the Assay: The Human CD156a ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human CD156a in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human CD156a coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and CD156a present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human CD156a antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD156a bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background: A Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 8 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADAM8 gene. ADAM8 is localized to chromosome 10q26.3. This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain) family. Members of the ADAM family, such as ADAM8, are cell surface proteases involved in remodeling of extracellular matrix, cell migration, and processing of membrane-bound signaling molecules. They are characterized by disintegrin and metalloprotease domains that confer adhesive properties and proteolytic activities, respectively. And the protein encoded by this gene may be involved in cell adhesion duringneurodegeneration.
