Principle of the Assay: The Human CD115 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human CD115 in Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human CD115 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and CD115 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human CD115 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD115 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

The gene is located on long arm of chromosome 5 (5q32) on the Crick (minus) strand. The encoded protein is a tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptor and member of the CSF1/PDGF receptor family of tyrosine-protein kinases. The encoded protein is a single pass type I membrane protein and acts as the receptor for colony stimulating factor 1, a cytokine which controls the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages. Both CSF1R, and its ligand colony stimulating factor 1 play an important role in the development of the mammary gland and may be involved in the process of mammary gland carcinogenesis.
