Intended Uses: For the quantitative detection of Rat Estrone (E1) concentration in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat-anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for Estrone and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated Estrone. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled Estrone and unlabeled Estrone with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of Estrone in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Estrone (also oestrone) is an estrogenic hormone secreted by the ovary as well as adipose tissue. Estrone is one of the three estrogens, which also include estriol and estradiol. Estrone is the least abundant of the three hormones, estradiol is present almost always in the reproductive female body, and estriol is abundant primarily during pregnancy. Estrone is relevant to health and disease states because of its conversion to estrone sulfate, a long-lived derivative. Estrone sulfate acts as a reservoir that can be converted as needed to the more active estradiol. Estrone is synthesized via aromatase from androstenedione, a derivative of progesterone. The conversion consists of the de-methylation of C-19 and the aromaticity of the 'A' ring. This reaction is similar to the conversion of testosterone to estradiol.

Product Notes
The Rat E1 clf_112599 (Catalog #AAA55831) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA55831 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat E1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Estrone, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
