Protein Structure
Lassa virus genome is comprised of two single-stranded RNA molecules designated small (S) and large (L). Two genes on the S segment encode the nucleoprotein (NP) and two envelope glycoproteins (GP1 and GP2); whereas, the L segment encodes the viral polymerase (L protein) and RING finger Z matrix protein. GP1 is an important protein used to detect specific antibody produced by lassa virus infection.
205 amino acids of lassa virus GP1 was expressed in E Coli, a 6 x histidine was lined to its C-terminus. It migrates at 23 kDa with isoelectric point 6.7.

Related Product Information for GP1 recombinant protein
Lassa virus causes acute viral hemorrhagic fever and was first reported in 1969 in the town of Lassa, in Borno State,Nigeria. Lassa virus belongs to Arenaviridae virus family. Natal multimammate mouse is the primary animal hold of lassa virus, found in sub-Saharan Africa. The virus is transmitted by contact with the feces or urine of animals, giving its high rate of incidence.
Lassa fever occurs commonly in West Africa. It results in 300,000 to 500,000 cases annually and causes about 5,000 deaths each year. Outbreaks of the disease have been observed in Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and the Central African Republic.

Product Notes
The GP1 (Catalog #AAA78009) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's GP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, WB (Western Blot), ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GP1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GP1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
