Principle of the assay: human Betacellulin ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for Betacellulin has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(E.coli, D32-Y111) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for Betacellulin is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the human Betacellulin amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: Betacellulin, also known as BTC is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BTC gene. This gene is mapped to 4q13.3. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the EGF family of growth factors. It is synthesized primarily as a transmembrane precursor, which is then processed to mature molecule by proteolytic events. This protein is a ligand for the EGF receptor. It is the growth factor that binds to EGFR, ERBB4 and other EGF receptor family members. This protein is a potent mitogen for retinal pigment epithelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells.

Product Notes
The Human BTC btc (Catalog #AAA45808) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA45808 ELISA Kit recognizes Human BTC. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Betacellulin/BTC, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
