Principle of the Assay: The Human GHR ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human GHR in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human GHR coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and GHR present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human GHR antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GHR bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background: Growth hormone receptor is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GHR gene. It is mapped to chromosome 5p13.1-p12. This gene encodes a protein that is a transmembrane receptor for growth hormone. Binding of growth hormone to the receptor leads to receptor dimerization (the receptor may however also exist as a pre-assembled non-functional dimer) and the activation of an intra- and intercellular signal transduction pathway leading to growth. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Laron syndrome, also known as the growth hormone insensitivity syndrome (GHIS), a disorder characterized by short stature (proportional dwarfism).

Product Notes
The Human GHR ghr (Catalog #AAA263044) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263044 ELISA Kit recognizes Human GHR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GHR, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
