Related Product Information for hs-CRP elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CRP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CRP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for CRP is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CRP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Product Notes

The Human hs-CRP (Catalog #AAA15490) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA15490 ELISA Kit recognizes Human hs-CRP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "high sensitivity C-Reactive Protein, hs-CRP, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sample types are compatible with the Human CRP ELISA kit?

The hs-CRP ELISA kit accepts multiple sample types, including serum, plasma (EDTA and heparin are acceptable), cell culture supernatants, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and urine. These samples should be collected and prepared according to standard protocols, with minimal freeze-thaw cycles recommended to preserve sample integrity.

What is the detection sensitivity and measurable range for CRP?

The hs-CRP ELISA kit typically offers high sensitivity around 0.1 ng/mL or lower, with a measurable detection range of 0.3–10 ng/mL or higher, depending on the specific formulation. This allows for precise quantification of both baseline and elevated CRP levels, making it suitable for cardiovascular risk assessment and inflammation monitoring.

How long does the CRP ELISA protocol take to complete?

The complete hs-CRP ELISA assay typically takes approximately 2.5 to 4 hours from sample preparation to final reading. This includes incubation periods (usually 90 minutes for sample binding and 1 hour for detection antibody), washing steps, substrate development, and absorbance measurement at 450 nm.

What controls or standards are required for accurate CRP quantification?

The kit includes pre-prepared standard solutions (typically 6-point serial dilutions) and quality control samples with known CRP concentrations. A blank well (with diluent only) is also required for background subtraction. Standard curves are generated using optical density measurements at 450 nm, and results are calculated by plotting sample values against the standard curve.

What storage conditions are recommended for the CRP ELISA kit?

The hs-CRP ELISA kit components should be stored at 2–8°C (refrigerated). Kit shelf life is typically 6 months under proper storage conditions. After opening, components should be used promptly or stored according to package insert instructions. Samples should be maintained at appropriate temperatures, and frozen samples at -20°C if long-term storage is necessary.

Can this CRP ELISA kit distinguish between baseline CRP and inflammation-level CRP?

Yes, the high-sensitivity hs-CRP kit is specifically designed to detect minute changes in systemic CRP levels. It can differentiate between baseline CRP levels (typically <3 mg/L in healthy individuals) and elevated inflammation levels, enabling assessment of cardiovascular risk and monitoring of inflammatory responses in various disease states.

Do I need to dilute human serum samples before running the assay, and if so, by how much?

Sample dilution depends on the expected CRP concentration. For typical applications, serum samples are diluted at ratios such as 1:5 to accommodate the kit's linear detection range. Some kits automatically dilute samples if readings exceed the high limit. Proper dilution preparation (40 μL sample diluent + 10 μL sample is common) ensures accurate quantification within the assay range.

Is this kit suitable for both clinical-level CRP and low-grade inflammation studies?

Yes, the hs-CRP ELISA kit is appropriate for both applications. Its high sensitivity (0.1 ng/mL) enables the detection of low-grade inflammatory responses in cardiovascular research and metabolic disorder monitoring, while its extended detection range accommodates higher clinical-level CRP concentrations with proper sample dilution.

How stable are collected samples (serum/plasma) before running the assay?

Serum and plasma samples are relatively stable when properly collected and stored. Samples can typically be stored at 4°C for up to two months or at -20°C or lower for longer-term storage. To maintain stability, samples should avoid sodium azide (which inhibits HRP enzyme activity) and minimize freeze-thaw cycles.

Does hemolysis or lipemia interfere with CRP detection in this kit?

Hemolysis and lipemia can interfere with ELISA measurements, particularly hemoglobin at high concentrations (>1000 mg/dL) and lipemia. AAA Biotech recommends using high-quality, well-prepared serum or plasma samples free from hemolysis. If samples show visible hemolysis or lipemia, they should be recollected to ensure accurate results.

Is the kit compatible with automated ELISA plate washers or only manual washing?

The hs-CRP ELISA kit is compatible with both automated ELISA plate washers and manual washing methods. Automated washers are preferred for consistency and efficiency, but multi-channel pipettes and manual washing are acceptable alternatives if automated equipment is unavailable.
