Principle of the Assay: The Human LOXL2 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human LOXL2 in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma, Cell Lysates, Tissue Homogenates. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human LOXL2 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and LOXL2 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human LOXL2 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LOXL2 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background: Lysyl oxidase homolog 2 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the LOXL2 gene. This gene encodes a member of the lysyl oxidase gene family. The prototypic member of the family is essential to the biogenesis of connective tissue, encoding an extracellular copper-dependent amine oxidase that catalyses the first step in the formation of crosslinks in collagens and elastin. A highly conserved amino acid sequence at the C-terminus end appears to be sufficient for amine oxidase activity, suggesting that each family member may retain this function. The N-terminus is poorly conserved and may impart additional roles in developmental regulation, senescence, tumor suppression, cell growth control, and chemotaxis to each member of the family. LOXL2 can also crosslink collagen type IV and hence influence the sprouting of new blood vessels.

Product Notes
The Human LOXL2 loxl2 (Catalog #AAA263062) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263062 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LOXL2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LOXL2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
