Principle of the Assay: Human Matrix Metalloproteinase-26 (MMP26) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MMP26 in samples. An antibody specific for MMP26 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MMP26 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human MMP26 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MMP26 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Matrix metalloproteinase-26 also known as matrilysin-2 and endometase is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MMP26 gene. MMP-26 is the smallest member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family of zinc-dependent endopeptidases. Synthesized as a zymogen, the nascent form is composed of three domains: "pre" domain, N-terminal signal sequence, which directs the protein into the endoplasmic reticulum; MMP-26 has been found strictly expressed in normal tissues of the placenta and moderately expressed in the uterus.

Product Notes
The Human MMP26 mmp26 (Catalog #AAA31495) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA31495 ELISA Kit recognizes Human MMP26. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Matrix Metalloproteinase-26 (MMP26), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
