Metallothioneins have a high content of cysteine residues that bind various heavy metals; these proteins are transcriptionally regulated by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids.
Principle of the Assay: Human Metallothionein-1F (MT1F) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MT1F in samples. An antibody specific for MT1F has been pre-coated onto amicroplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MT1F present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human MT1F detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wellsand color develops in proportion to the amount of MT1F bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
