Background: This gene encodes an unconventional myosin. This protein differs from other myosins in that it has a long N-terminal extension preceding the conserved motor domain. Studies in mice suggest that this protein is necessary for actin organization in the hair cells of the cochlea. Mutations in this gene have been associated with profound, congenital, neurosensory.
Principle of the Assay: Human Myosin-XV (MYO15A) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MYO15A in samples. An antibody specific for MYO15A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MYO15A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human MYO15A detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MYO15A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
