Background: PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) is an important member of the Argonaute protein family and is closely related to the malignant behaviors of tumor cells.The PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) plays an important role in spermatogenesis and transposon control. In mammals, the absence of the PIWIL1 gene can lead to over-expression of retrotransposons, spermatogenetic arrest, and male infertility.
Principle of the Assay: Human Piwi-Like Protein 1 (PIWIL1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PIWIL1 in samples. An antibody specific for PIWIL1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PIWIL1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human PIWIL1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PIWIL1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
