Principle of the Assay: Human Slit Homolog 1 Protein (SLIT1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SLIT1 in samples. An antibody specific for SLIT1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SLIT1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human SLIT1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SLIT1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Slit homolog 1 protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLIT1 gene, which thought to act as molecular guidance cue in cellular migration, and function appears to be mediated by interaction with roundabout homolog receptors. During neural development involved in axonal navigation at the ventral midline of the neural tube and projection of axons to different regions (By similarity). SLIT1 and SLIT2 together seem to be essential for midline guidance in the forebrain by acting as repulsive signal preventing inappropriate midline crossing by axons projecting from the olfactory bulb.
