Principle of the Assay: Human UDP-glucumno-syltransferase 1 (UGT1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate UGT1 in samples. An antibody specific for UGT1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any UGT1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human UGT1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of UGT1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: UGT1A10 encodes a UDP-glucuronosyltransferase, an enzyme of the glucuronidation pathway that transforms small lipophilic molecules, such as steroids, bilirubin, hormones, and drugs, into water-soluble, excretable metabolites. This gene is part of a complex locus that encodes several UDP-glucuronosyltransferases. The locus includes thirteen unique alternate first exons followed by four common exons. Four of the alternate first exons are considered pseudogenes.
