Principle of the Assay: The Human ICAM-5 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human ICAM-5 in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human ICAM-5 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and ICAM-5 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human ICAM-5 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ICAM-5 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background: Intercellular adhesion molecule 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ICAM5 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. All ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins, contain 2-9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. This protein is expressed on the surface of telencephalic neurons and displays two types of adhesion activity, homophilic binding between neurons and heterophilic binding between neurons and leukocytes. It may be a critical component in neuron-microglial cell interactions in the course of normal development or as part of neurodegenerative diseases.

Product Notes
The Human ICAM5 icam5 (Catalog #AAA263050) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263050 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ICAM5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ICAM-5, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
