Principle of the Assay: The Mouse VEGFB ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Mouse VEGFB in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Mouse VEGFB coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and VEGFB present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Mouse VEGFB antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of VEGFB bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor B also known as VEGF-B is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the VEGF-B gene. VEGF-B is a growth factor that belongs to the vascular endothelial growth factor family, of which VEGF-A is the best-known member. In contrast to VEGF-A, VEGF-B plays a less pronounced role in the vascular system: Whereas VEGF-A is important for the formation of blood vessels, such as during development or in pathological conditions, VEGF-B seems to play a role only in the maintenance of newly formed blood vessels during pathological conditions. It also plays an important role on several types of neurons. And it is important for the protection of neurons in the retina and thecerebral cortex during stroke and of motoneurons during motor neuron diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Product Notes
The Mouse VEGFB vegfb (Catalog #AAA263149) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263149 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse VEGFB. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VEGFB, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
