Related Product Information for anti-CTSK antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Cathepsin K(CTSK) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human.

Background: Cathepsin K, abbreviated CTSK, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CTSK gene. It is mapped to 1q21. The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine protease involved in bone remodeling and resorption. And this protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 protein family, is expressed predominantly in osteoclasts. Additionally, the enzyme's ability to catabolize elastin, collagen, and gelatin allow it to break down bone and cartilage. This catabolic activity is also partially responsible for the loss of lung elasticity and recoil inemphysema. Cathepsin K inhibitors, such as odanacatib, show great potential in the treatment of osteoporosis. Cathepsin K is degraded by Cathepsin S, called Controlled Cathepsin Cannibalism.

Product Notes

The CTSK ctsk (Catalog #AAA46415) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Cathepsin K Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cathepsin K can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, IHC (Immunohistochemistry), WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTSK ctsk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cathepsin K, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
