Related Product Information for anti-COL11A1 antibody
Description: This gene encodes one of the two alpha chains of type XI collagen, a minor fibrillar collagen. Type XI collagen is a heterotrimer but the third alpha chain is a post-translationally modified alpha 1 type II chain. Mutations in this gene are associated with type II Stickler syndrome and with Marshall syndrome. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
Function: May play an important role in fibrillogenesis by controlling lateral growth of collagen II fibrils.
Subunit Structure: Trimers composed of three different chains: alpha 1(XI), alpha 2(XI), and alpha 3(XI). Alpha 3(XI) is a post-translational modification of alpha 1(II). Alpha 1(V) can also be found instead of alpha 3(XI)=1(II).
Post-translational Modifications: Prolines at the third position of the tripeptide repeating unit (G-X-Y) are hydroxylated in some or all of the chains. N-glycosylated.
Similarity: The C-terminal propeptide, also known as COLFI domain, have crucial roles in tissue growth and repair by controlling both the intracellular assembly of procollagen molecules and the extracellular assembly of collagen fibrils. It binds a calcium ion which is essential for its function (By similarity). Belongs to the fibrillar collagen family.

Product Notes

The COL11A1 col11a1 (Catalog #AAA321205) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Collagen XIalpha 1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Collagen XIalpha 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA, ICC (Immunocytochemistry), IF (Immunofluorescence), WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COL11A1 col11a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Collagen XIalpha 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
