TM9SF3 (Transmembrane 9 Superfamily Member 3), also known as SMBP or EP70-P-iso, is located on human chromosome 10q24.1. TM9SF3, which encodes transmembrane 9 superfamily member 3 protein, is a member of the TM9SF family. TM9SF proteins are characterized by a large noncytoplasmic domain and nine putative transmembrane domains. TM9SF proteins are required for adhesion and phagocytosis in innate immune responses. TM9SF3 binds beta-adrenergic ligands, including the synthetic beta-adrenergic agonist SM11044. An important paralog of this gene is TM9SF4.
