Biological Significance
Alpha-1-antitrypsin (A1AT) is a glycoprotein of MW 54 kDa with a pI of 4.8. It is a serine protease inhibitor and acts to limit the amount of cell damage and death at the tissue site. Different isoenzymes exist which together form the Protease inhibitor system. Phenotype M is the most common and certain variants (S and Z) are associated with A1AT deficiency which can lead to emphysema and liver disease.
Biohazard
Starting donor material tested by approved FDA methods and found to be negative for HIV 1/2 antibodies, HCV antibodies and HBsAg.
Contaminants
SDS-PAGE shows a band corresponding to Aplha-1-Antitrypsin MW of 54kD.
Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4°C. Do Not Freeze.

Product Notes
The SERPINA1 serpina1 (Catalog #AAA14368) is a Native Protein produced from Pooled Normal Human Serum and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha 1 Antitrypsin, Native Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
