Background: Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide. It contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side chain. Glutathione, an antioxidant, protects cells from toxins such as free radicals.
Principle of the Assay: Rat Glutathione (GSH) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GSH in samples. An antibody specific for GSH has b een pre pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any GSH present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances substances, HRPHRP-ConjugateConjugated Rat GSH detection anti body is added to the we lls. Fo llowing a wash to r emove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is adde d to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GSH bound in the initial s tep. The color development is st opped and the intensity of th the color is measured.
