Principle of the Assay: Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is a pleiotropic cytokine produced primarily by mitogen- or antigen-activated T lymphocytes. IL-2 plays a keyrole in promoting the clonal expansion of antigen-specific T cells. In addition, IL-2 has also been shown to mediate multipleimmune responses on a variety of cell types.Rat IL-2 ELISA Kit employs a double antibody sandwich method toquantitate Rat IL-2 in samples. An antibody specific for Rat IL-2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samplesare pipetted into the wells and any Rat IL-2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unboundsubstances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for Rat IL-2 is added to the wells. After washing, proprietary Streptavidin-HRPconjugates is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound streptavidin-enzyme reagent, adding HRP Substrate(TMB), TMB turns blue under the catalysis of HRP, and turns yellow after adding stop solution. Measure the OD value with amicroplate reader at 450 nm wavelength. The IL-2 concentration is proportional to the OD450 nm value.
