Background: The N-terminal domain of TOM1 shares sequence similarity with the N-terminal domainsof human HGS, human STAM, and yeast VPS27, all of which are proteins associated withvesicular trafficking at the endosome.By searching sequence databases using TOM1 asthe query, Seroussi et al. (1999) identified TOM1L1 as another protein with an N-terminal domain similar to that of TOM1. The authors assembled the sequences of a group of human TOM1L1 ESTs into a contiguous cDNA encoding a deduced 476-amino acid protein. TOM1L1 shares 37% sequence identity with TOM1; its C-terminal domain is not similar to that of TOM1.

Principle of the Assay: Human TOM1-like protein 2 (TOM1L2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA toquantitate TOM1L2 in samples. An antibody specific for TOM1L2 has been pre-coatedonto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any TOM1L2present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human TOM1L2 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following awash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wellsand color develops in proportion to the amount of TOM1L2 bound in the initial step. Thecolor development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
