Related Product Information for APOE elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: The Human Apolipoprotein E ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human Apolipoprotein E in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma, Saliva, Urine, Human Milk. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human Apolipoprotein E coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Apolipoprotein E present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human Apolipoprotein E antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Apolipoprotein E bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background: Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a class of apolipoprotein found in the chylomicron and Intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDLs) that is essential for the normal catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. In peripheral tissues, APOE is primarily produced by the liver and macrophages, and mediates cholesterol metabolism in an isoform- dependent manner. In the central nervous system, APOE is mainly produced by astrocytes, and transports cholesterol to neurons via APOE receptors, which are members of the low density lipoprotein receptor gene family. This protein is involved in Alzheimer"s disease and cardiovascular disease.

Product Notes

The Human APOE apoe (Catalog #AAA263021) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263021 ELISA Kit recognizes Human APOE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apolipoprotein E, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
