Column temperature: 120°C, raised at 10°C/min until 320°C. Analysis was also carried
out using GLC-FID and a ZB-5HT capillary column (30 m, 0.1 um film thickness) and
the same temperature program.

The identity of the material is based on its mode of preparation and confirmed by the mass spectrum recorded on the methyl ester derivative showing prominent ions at e. g. m/z 370 (M'), 341 (M* - C2Hs), 301 (M* - CH2-CH=CH-C2Hs). The a-ion appeared at m/z 194 (cleavage at C-1 1/12. As expected, incubation with soybean lipoxygenase-1 resulted in the formation of 19-hydroperoxy-6,9, 12,15,17,21-tetracosahexaenoic acid.
