Principle of the Assay: Human Neutral Amino Acid Transporter B (SLC1A5) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SLC1A5 in samples. An antibody specific for SLC1A5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SLC1A5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human SLC1A5 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SLC1A5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Neutral amino acid transporter B is sodium-dependent amino acids transporter that has a broad substrate specificity, with a preference for zwitterionic amino acids. It accepts as substrates all neutral amino acids, including glutamine, asparagine, and branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, and excludes methylated, anionic, and cationic amino acids. Through binding of the fusogenic protein syncytin-1/ERVW-1 may mediate trophoblasts syncytialization, the spontaneous fusion of their plasma membranes, an essential process in placental development.
