Principle of the Assay: The Human OCM ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human OCM in Cell Culture Supernates, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human OCM coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and OCM present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human OCM antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of OCM bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background: Oncomodulin, also known as OCM, is an oncodevelopmental protein found in early embryonic cells in the placenta and also in tumors. The human gene for oncomodulin is located on chromosome 7. It is a parvalbumin- family calcium-binding protein expressed and secreted by macrophages that typically traffic to tissue as an inflammatory response or after injury. Oncomodulin promotes axon regeneration in retinal ganglion cells and maintains functioning in mouse cochlear hair cells.

Product Notes
The Human OCM ocm (Catalog #AAA263070) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA263070 ELISA Kit recognizes Human OCM. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OCM, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
