Background: Prostaglandin F(2-alpha) is involved in a number of physiologic processes. It serves as apotent luteolytic agent in many species, has been implicated as a modulator of intraocular pressure, and may be important in smooth muscle contraction in the uterus and elsewhere. Its effects on cells are mediated through specific interaction with prostaglandin receptors.
Principle of the Assay: Human Prostaglandin F2-alpha receptor (PTGFR) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwichELISA to quantitate PTGFR in samples. An antibody specific for PTGFR has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPTGFR present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human PTGFR detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is addedto the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PTGFR bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
