Biological Significance
Fibrinogen (factor I) is a soluble plasma glycoprotein, synthesised by the liver, that is converted by thrombin into fibrin during blood coagulation. This is achieved through processes in the coagulation cascade that activate the zymogen prothrombin to the serine protease thrombin, which is responsible for converting fibrinogen into fibrin.
Note
SDS-gel electrophoresis (after reduction): Aa, Bb, g bands. Essentially free of Plasminogen and Fibronectin; traces of von Willebrand factor may be present. Factor XIII is removed employing a modification of the method of McDonah et al, Biochem Biophys Acta 446: 345ff (1976). Cross-linking of a and b chains: complete (in the prescence of Factor XIIIa, 20mM Calcium Chloride, and 5 mM DTT).
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Product Notes
The TNXB (Catalog #AAA75204) is a Native Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fibrinogen, Native Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
