• Bioactivity: Some class-specific anti-collagens may be specific for three-dimensional epitopes which may result in diminished reactivity with denatured collagen or formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissues
• Biohazard Information: This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
• Preparation and Storage: Ships ambient or refrigerated. Upon receipt store at 4°C while lyophilized. After reconstituted, store at 4°C short term, or aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid repeat freeze-thaws.

Collagen is a group of naturally occurring proteins found, in nature, exclusively in animals, especially in the flesh and connective tissues of mammals. It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Type-IV collagen is a type of collagen found primarily in the basal lamina. The C-terminus domain is not removed in post-translational processing, and the fibers link head-to-head, rather than in parallel. Also, type-IV lacks the regular glycine in every third residue necessary for the tight, collagen helix.
