Function
Exhibits weak E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity (PubMed: , PubMed:19407830,PubMed: ). E3 ubiquitin ligases accept ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then directly transfer the ubiquitin to targeted substrates (PubMed:18591963,PubMed:19407830, PubMed:22410793). Can ubiquitinate AKT1 preferentially at 'Lys-284'involving 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination and seems to be involved in regulation of Akt signaling by targeting phosphorylated Akt to proteosomal degradation (PubMed: ). Proposed to preferentially act as a SUMO E3 ligase at physiological concentrations (PubMed: ). Plays a role in the control of mitochondrial morphology by promoting mitochondrial fragmentation, and influences mitochondrial
localization (PubMed: , PubMed:18207745,PubMed: ). Likely to promote mitochondrial fission through negatively regulating the mitochondrial fusion proteins MFN1 and MFN2, acting in a pathway that is parallel to the PRKN/PINK1 regulatory pathway (PubMed: ). May also be involved in the sumoylation of the membrane fission protein DNM1L (PubMed: , PubMed:19407830).Inhibits cell growth (PubMed: , PubMed:22410793). When overexpressed, activates JNK through MAP3K7/TAK1 and induces caspase dependent apoptosis (PubMed: ). Involved in the modulation of innate immune defense against viruses by inhibiting DDX58-dependent antiviral response (PubMed: ). Can mediate DDX58 sumoylation and disrupt its polyubiquitination (PubMed: ).
Cellular Location
Mitochondrion outer membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Peroxisome. Note=Transported in mitochondrion-derived vesicles from the mitochondrion to the peroxisome.
Tissue Location
Widely expressed with highest levels in the heart, skeletal muscle, placenta, kidney and liver. Barely detectable in colon and thymus.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20 degree C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Product Notes
The MUL1 mul1 (Catalog #AAA287068) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 272-301. The MUL1 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human (Predicted Reactivity: Monkey) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MUL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA, WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MUL1 mul1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MUL1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
