Background: This gene represents a nuclear retinoic acidreceptor. The encoded protein, retinoic acid receptor alpha, regulates transcription in a ligand-dependent manner. This gene has been implicated in regulation of development, differentiation, apoptosis, granulopoeisis, and transcription of clock genes. Translocations between this locus and several other loci have been associated with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Alternatively splicedtranscript variants have been found for this locus.

Function: Receptor for retinoic acid (PubMed: 19850744, PubMed: 16417524,PubMed: 20215566). Retinoicacid receptors bind as heterodimers to their target response elements in response to theirligands, all-trans or 9- cis retinoic acid, andregulate gene expression in various biologicalprocesses (PubMed: 28167758). TheRXR/RAR heterodimers bind to the retinoicacid response elements (RARE) composed oftandem 5'-AGGTCA-3' sites known asDR1-DR5 (PubMed: 28167758). In theabsence of ligand, the RXR-RAR heterodimers associate with a multiprotein complexc ontaining transcription corepressors that induce histone deacetylation, chromatincondensation and transcriptional suppression (PubMed: 16417524). On ligandbinding, the corepressors dissociate from the receptors and associate with the coactivators leading to transcriptional activation (PubMed: 9267036, PubMed: 19850744,PubMed: 20215566). Formation of a complex with histone deacetylases mightlead to inhibition of RARE DNA elementbinding and to transcriptional repression(PubMed: 28167758).Transcriptional activation and RARE DNAelement binding might be supported by the transcription factor KLF2 (PubMed: 28167758). RARA plays an essential role in the regulation ofretinoic acid-induced germ cell development during spermatogenesis (By similarity). Has arole in the survival of early spermatocytes atthe beginning prophase of meiosis (By similarity). In Sertoli cells, may promote thesurvival and development of early meioticprophase spermatocytes (By similarity). In concert with RARG, required for skeletal growth, matrix homeostasis and growth plate function (By similarity). Together with RXRA,positively regulates microRNA-10a expression, thereby inhibiting theGATA6/VCAM1 signaling response to pulsatileshear stress in vascular endothelial cells RARA Antibody (C-term) (MBS9212799) western blot analysis in HL-60 cell line andmouse testis tissue lysates (35ug/lane).This demonstrates the RARA antibody detected the RARA protein (arrow). Clinical relevance has not been evaluated. (PubMed: 28167758). Inassociation with HDAC3, HDAC5 and HDAC7 corepressors, plays a role in the repression of microRNA-10a and there by promotes the inflammatory response (PubMed: 28167758).

Product Notes

The RARA rara (Catalog #AAA289217) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 322-349. The RARA Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RARA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, WB (Western Blot), FCM/FACS (Flow Cytometry), IHC (Immunohistochemistry), ELISA, IF (Immunofluorescence). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RARA rara for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RARA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
