UBD (Ubiquitin D) is a Protein Coding gene. The UBD gene, located on 6p22.1, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat. This gene encodes a protein that contains two ubiquitin-like domains. Through covalent attachment, the encoded protein targets other proteins for 26S proteasome degradation. This protein is involved in the management of diverse intracellular processes, including caspase-dependent apoptosis, the formation of aggresomes, mitotic regulation, and dendritic cell maturation. The UBD molecule has often been considered a tumor oncogene and has been shown to promote the recurrence and metastasis of malignant tumor cells. Diseases associated with UBD include Kidney Disease and Chronic Kidney Disease. Among its related pathways are HIF1Alpha Pathway and TRAF Pathway.
