Related Product Information for PCT recombinant protein
Procalcitonin is a peptide hormone mainly produced by the C cells of the thyroid and certain endocrine cells of the lung. Under normal expression conditions, procalcitonin is immediately cleaved into three specific fragments, an N terminal residue, calcitonin and katacalcin. Levels of unprocessed procalcitonin rise significantly after bacterial infection, trauma or shock. Recombinant procalcitonin comprises a 114 amino acid fragment (3-116) corresponding to the unprocessed procalcitonin protein and is expressed in E Coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. This product is not intended for therapeutic use.

Product Notes

The PCT (Catalog #AAA13477) is a Recombinant Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Procalcitonin (PCT), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
