Principle of the Assay: This growth factor induces proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells, and is essential for both physiological andpathological angiogenesis. Disruption of this gene in mice resulted in abnormal embryonic blood vessel formation. This gene isupregulated in many known tumors and its expression is correlated with tumor stage and progression.Rat VEGF ELISAKit employs a double antibody sandwich method to quantitate Rat VEGF in samples. An antibody specific for Rat VEGF has beenpre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any Rat VEGF present is bound by theimmobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for Rat VEGF is added tothe wells. After washing, proprietary Streptavidin-HRP conjugates is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unboundstreptavidin-enzyme reagent, adding HRP Substrate (TMB), TMB turns blue under the catalysis of HRP, and turns yellow afteradding stop solution. Measure the OD value with a microplate reader at 450 nm wavelength. The Rat VEGF concentration isproportional to the OD450 nm value.
