Principle of the Assay||The Human Livin ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human Livin in Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human Livin coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Livin present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human Livin antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Livin bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Background/Introduction: BIRC7, also called KIAP or Livin, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BIRC7 gene. This gene is mapped to 20q13.33. It encodes a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family, and contains a single copy of a baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) as well as a RING-type zinc finger domain. The BIR domain is essential for inhibitory activity and interacts with caspases, while the RING finger domain sometimes enhances antiapoptotic activity but does not inhibit apoptosis alone. Elevated levels of the encoded protein may be associated with cancer progression and play a role in chemotherapy sensitivity. BIRC7 blocked apoptosis induced by BAX induction of cytochrome C release from mitochondria, and it also can block apoptosis induced by chemotherapeutic agents.

Product Notes
The Human BIRC7 birc7 (Catalog #AAA261805) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA261805 ELISA Kit recognizes Human BIRC7. AAA Biotech's Livin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (Sandwich ELISA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIRC7 birc7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Livin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
