Principle of the Assay: Human Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PTX3 in samples. An antibody specific for PTX3 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PTX3 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human PTX3 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PTX3 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: This PTX3 encodes a member of the pentraxin protein family. The expression of this protein is induced by inflammatory cytokines in response to inflammatory stimuli in several mesenchymal and epithelial cell types, particularly endothelial cells and mononuclear phagocytes. The protein promotes fibrocyte differentiation and is involved in regulating inflammation and complement activation. It also plays a role in angiogenesis and tissue remodeling. The protein serves as a biomarker for several inflammatory conditions.

Product Notes
The Human PTX3 ptx3 (Catalog #AAA331220) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA331220 ELISA Kit recognizes Human PTX3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pentraxin 3 (PTX3), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
