Principle of the Assay: Human VPS10 Domain-Containing Receptor SorCS2 (SORCS2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SORCS2 in samples. An antibody specific for SORCS2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SORCS2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human SORCS2 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SORCS2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background/Introduction: SORCS2 encodes one family member of vacuolar protein sorting 10 (VPS10) domain-containing receptor proteins. The VPS10 domain name comes from the yeast carboxypeptidase Y sorting receptor Vps10 protein. Members of this gene family are large with many exons but the CDS lengths are usually less than 3700 nt. Very large introns typically separate the exons encoding the VPS10 domain; the remaining exons are separated by much smaller-sized introns. These genes are strongly expressed in the central nervous system.
