Related Product Information for anti-MHC CLASS II RT1B antibody
Mouse anti Rat MHC Class II RT1B antibody, clone OX-6 recognizes a monomorphic determinant of the rat RT1B MHC class II antigen present on B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, some macrophages and certain epithelial cells. Rat MHC Class II RT1B antibody, clone OX-6 does not react with the rat BDIX strain due to a defect in RT1B expression (Male et al. 1987). The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a cluster of genes that are important in the immune response to infections. In rats, this complex is referred to as the RT1 region. In mice, this complex is referred to as the H-2 region. Mouse anti Rat MHC Class II RT1B antibody, clone OX-6 also cross reacts with a polymorphic determinant on mouse strains of the H-2 haplotypes k and s. Analysis of recombinant mouse strains has mapped the OX-6 determinant to the H-2I-A region (McMaster and Williams 1979 and Male et al. 1987). This product is routinely tested in flow cytometry on rat splenocytes.

Product Notes

The MHC CLASS II RT1B (Catalog #AAA11878) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's MHC CLASS II RT1B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, FCM/FACS (Flow Cytometry). Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells in 100ul. Flow Cytometry: Minimum Dilution: Neat; Maximum Dilution: 1/10. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MHC CLASS II RT1B for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MHC CLASS II RT1B, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this RT1B monoclonal antibody suitable for flow cytometry or immunostaining?

Yes, the MHC Class II RT1B antibody (Clone OX-6) is specifically validated for flow cytometry applications. It comes in FITC-conjugated format and is routinely tested on rat splenocytes. The antibody can also be used in functional assays, making it versatile for multiple immunological techniques.

Which mouse strains or species does this antibody detect?

This antibody recognizes rat MHC Class II RT1B antigen present on B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, some macrophages, and epithelial cells. However, it does not react with the rat BDIX strain due to a defect in RT1B expression. The antibody also cross-reacts with mouse strains carrying H-2 haplotypes k and s.

What is the clone number and isotype of the RT1B antibody?

The clone number is OX-6 and the isotype is IgG1. The antibody is monoclonal and derived from mouse hybridomas, providing high specificity for MHC Class II RT1B. The FITC-conjugated format has an IgG concentration of 0.1 mg/mL (varies by lot).

What dilution is recommended for cell staining or tissue applications?

For flow cytometry, use 10 µL of the working dilution to label 10⁶ cells in 100 µL buffer. The minimum dilution is neat (undiluted), with a maximum recommended dilution of 1/10. Exact dilutions should be optimized empirically for specific applications.

Can this antibody be used for MHC Class II expression analysis on immune cells?

Yes, this antibody is ideal for analyzing MHC Class II expression on immune cells. It specifically detects RT1B on B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages, making it excellent for characterizing immune cell populations and analyzing MHC Class II antigen expression patterns.

What storage conditions are required to maintain antibody stability?

Store the antibody at 4°C or -20°C undiluted, with a shelf life of 18 months from dispatch. Avoid frost-free freezers and repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as these can denature the antibody. The product is photosensitive and should be protected from light. Use a microcentrifuge if a precipitate appears before use.
