Description: Mouse IgG monoclonal antibody for Mitofusin 1 detection. Tested with WB, ICC/IF in Human.

Background: Mitofusin-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MFN1 gene. It is an 80-90 kDa mitochondrial member of the dynamin family of molecules. It is ubiquitously expressed, and found in the outer mitochondrial membrane. The protein encoded by this gene is a mediator of mitochondrial fusion, and thereby contribute to the dynamic balance between fusion and fission that determines mitochondria morphology. MFN1 is known to form oligomers, either with itself or MFN-2, and to undergo ubiquitination by MARCH5. MFN-1 has two key domains. One is a coiled-coil region that mediates MFN-1: MFN-1/2 binding, and a second is a GTPase domain whose cleavage of GTP is necessary for membrane fusion. Overexpression of MFN1 caused perinuclear mitochondrial clustering.

Product Notes

The MFN1 mfn1 (Catalog #AAA125503) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Mitofusin 1 Antibody (Monoclonal, 3H3) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Mitofusin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, IF (Immunofluorescence), ICC (Immunocytochemistry), WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MFN1 mfn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Mitofusin 1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
