Principle of the assay: mouse CD56 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from rat specific for CD56 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(NSO, L20-T711) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for CD56 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the mouse CD56 amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM, also known as the cluster of differentiation CD56, is a hemophilic binding glycoprotein. It is a glycoprotein of Immunoglobulin (Ig) super family. At least 27 alternatively spliced NCAM mRNAs are produced, giving a wide diversity of NCAM isoforms NCAM gene is located at 11q22-q23.This glycoprotein is mainly expressed on the surface of neurons, glia, skeletal muscle and natural killer cells. NCAM has been implicated as having a role in cell-cell adhesion, neurite outgrowth, synaptic plasticity, and learning and memory.

Product Notes
The Mouse NCAM1 ncam1 (Catalog #AAA45873) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA45873 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse NCAM1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD56/NCAM1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
