Function
Modulates calcium-dependent activity of inositol 1,4,5- triphosphate receptors (ITPRs)(PubMed: ). Inhibitsagonist- induced intracellular calcium signaling (PubMed: ). Enhances inactivation and does not support calcium-dependent facilitation of voltage-dependent P/Q-type calcium channels (PubMed: ). Causes calcium-dependent facilitation and inhibits inactivation of L-type calcium channels by binding to the same sites as calmodulin in the C- terminal domain of CACNA1C, but has an opposite effect on channel function (PubMed: ). Suppresses the calcium-dependent inactivation of CACNA1D (By similarity). Inhibits TRPC5 channels (PubMed: ). Prevents NMDA receptor-induced cellular degeneration. Required for the normal transfer of light signals through the retina (By similarity).
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cytoplasm, perinuclear region. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor; Cytoplasmic side. Golgi apparatus Cell junction, synapse, postsynaptic density. Note=L- CaBP1 is associated most likely with the cytoskeletal structures, whereas S-CaBP1 is localized at or near the plasma membrane [Isoform S-CaBP1]: Cytoplasm, cell cortex. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor Note=S-CaBP1 is localized at or near the plasma membrane
Tissue Location
Retina and brain. Somatodendritic compartment of neurons. Calbrain was found exclusively in brain where it is abundant in the hippocampus, habenular area in the epithalamus and in the cerebellum.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20 degree C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for anti-CABP1 antibody
CABP1 belongs to a subfamily of calcium binding proteins, which share similarity to calmodulin. Calcium binding proteins are an important component of calcium mediated cellular signal transduction. Expression of this protein was only detected in retina and brain. Study of the mouse homolog demonstrated that groups of cells expressing this protein are located in the center or inner border of the inner unclear layer of retina.

Product Notes

The CABP1 cabp1 (Catalog #AAA287891) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 311-343. The CABP1 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse (Predicted Reactivity: Bovine, Rat) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CABP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, IHC (Immunohistochemistry), ELISA, WB (Western Blot). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CABP1 cabp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CABP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
