Related Product Information for anti-GAD-65/67 antibody
This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gammaaminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulindependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome.Alternative splicing of this gene results in two products, the predominant 67-kD form and a less-frequent 25-kD form.An important paralog of this gene is GAD2.GAD2 (Glutamate Decarboxylase 2) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with GAD2 include Stiff- Person Syndrome and Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndrome, Type Ii. GO annotations related to this gene include protein heterodimerization activity and carboxy-lyase activity.

AAA Biotech's GAD-65/67 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunofluorescence (IF), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:100-1:300 IF: 1:200-1:1000 ELISA: 1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GAD-65/67 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GAD-65/67, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
