It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2 to 8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
Related Product Information for anti-RABIES VIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN antibody
Mouse anti Rabies Virus Glycoprotein antibody, clone 1C5 recognizes the glycoprotein of rabies virus, a Lyssavirus that causes rabies in mammals. The virus is found in the saliva of infected animals and is mostly spread though bites. The virus then travels though the peripheral nervous system to the central nervous system. Once it reaches the brain it causes acute encephalitis. Symptoms include paralysis, cerebral dysfunction, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, anger, paranoia, terror and hallucination. The production of a large amount of saliva, the inability to speak or swallow and associated hydrophobia is also common in the later stages of the disease. The time between exposure to the virus and onset of symptoms can range from about 2 weeks to several months. Once symptoms appear, death is virtually inevitable. However, the disease can be effectively treated by post-exposure prophylaxis, through vaccination, provided this is done as soon as possible.
Mouse anti Rabies Virus Glycoprotein antibody, clone 1C5 recognizes the purified glycoprotein of the rabies virus as well as the native virus. It has been shown to react with intact infected BHK cells and has therapeutic effect on infected mice. The antibody has virus-neutralising activity with several rabies virus strains such as CVS, Lagos bat, Mokola, Flury LEP and Duvenhage.

Product Notes

The RABIES VIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN (Catalog #AAA12061) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's RABIES VIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Frozen (IHC-F), ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Immunofluorescence (IF). Where this antibody has been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls. (1) Sodium azide needs to be removed by dialysis before use of this antibody in funcitonal assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RABIES VIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RABIES VIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
