Principle of the Assay: Human Large Neutral Amino Acids Transporter Small Subunit 1 (SLC7A5) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SLC7A5 in samples. An antibody specific for SLC7A5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SLC7A5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human SLC7A5 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SLC7A5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of he color is measured.
Background/Introduction: Sodium-independent, high-affinity transport of large neutral amino acids such as phenylalanine, tyrosine, leucine, arginine and tryptophan, when associated with SLC3A2/4F2hc. Involved in cellular amino acid uptake. Acts as an amino acid exchanger. Involved in the transport of L-DOPA across the blood- brain barrier, and that of thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) across the cell membrane in tissues such as placenta. Plays a role in neuronal cell proliferation (neurogenesis) in brain.
